Celebrate the U.S. National Park Service’s 100th anniversary this summer at Baltimore’s historic sites, trails and parks. Baltimore City Recreation and Parks, the Baltimore National Heritage Area, Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, Parks & People Foundation and Visit Baltimore have teamed up to organize and promote a summer of fun events to encourage locals and visitors alike to get outside and “Find Your Park” in Baltimore.
Throughout the summer, city residents and visitors are invited to take part in a calendar full of exciting events taking place at more than 200 parks, trails and scenic byways in Baltimore, from Fort McHenry and Patterson Park, to Druid Hill Park and the Gwynns Falls Trail. These outdoor events include food and wine festivals, historic commemorations, and free movies, concerts and sporting activities.
“We are thrilled to bring the ’Find Your Park’ campaign home to Baltimore, a city that has a wealth of outdoor parks and trails to explore, nearly 70 neighborhoods that are designated as historic districts, and more than 56,000 buildings listed in 52 National Register historic districts, a number only surpassed by New York City,” said Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. “We encourage all of our residents and visitors to spend the summer exploring these outdoor designations that include a national monument, national historic site, national historic trails, national heritage area, and more.”
Visit Baltimore has launched a webpage specifically dedicated to the local ‘Find Your Park’ promotion at baltimore.org/campaign/find-your-park. This webpage includes a full calendar of “Find Your Park” events and visitor information for many of Baltimore’s outdoor recreational facilities, including the historic trails and byways that pass through the city, as well as Baltimore’s extensive network of parks.
