The Authentic Baltimore program offers sites, services and events that interpret a piece of Baltimore history and heritage a chance to set themselves apart.
Sites-Historic Sites or Museums
Services-A Research Facility, A Tour, A Lodging or Dining establishment
Events-A Traditional Event or An Interpretive Event (Re-enactments, festivals, etc.)

To see if your institution or event qualifies for this program please download the guidelines. The staff of the Baltimore City Heritage Area is available to answer any questions you may have about the guidelines and to assist you in meeting them if possible.
After I submit my application what happens?
Applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis and all applications will be reviewed within ninety days. The Advisory Committee is made up of leaders from the tourism and marketing, historic preservation, museum and cultural community and is supported by the staff of the Baltimore City Heritage Area. Any accompanying supporting materials will be kept confidential if the applicant so desires.
I have been told that my application was approved. What does that mean to me?
Upon certification applicants are given permission to use the Authentic Baltimore logo in promotional materials and on site. They will be provided with the logo in a digital format, table or desktop signage, decals and a banner all with the Authentic Baltimore logo. There is a fee associated with the program that helps to cover the costs associated with the program.

Following the recommendations of the Advisory Committee for the Authentic Baltimore program the staff of the Baltimore City Heritage Area will assist you in working toward meeting the guidelines if possible.
